Acora Ltd, a UK based IT outsourcing service provider<\/a>, with a service operation centre in Solihull, is celebrating the success of its pilot academy scheme. The company has been working with Solihull college to sponsor young people who are interested in technology. Students have the opportunity to apply for paid internships with Acora too, and will receive training and mentoring on areas in which they show an interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA lot of young people are caught in the cycle where they can\u2019t get a job due to lack of experience, but can\u2019t get that experience in the first place. The academy provides this experience and much more for the students, as well as bringing talented young people into our business. Acora has always had a rich tradition of growing and developing its own talent, and it\u2019s a joy to watch them progress through the business.\u201d<\/p>Hollie Dunster, HR Executive at Acora<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Two students recently underwent two weeks\u2019 work experience at Acora over Easter, and decided to return for a three-month paid training placement over the summer. They\u2019ve both now been offered permanent roles as members of the IT service desk team. This success has encouraged the HR department and David Rabson, CEO and sponsor of the academy scheme, to continue to build on its progress and expand the academy to its operation centre in Sussex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“During my three months\u2019 internship with Acora, I\u2019ve learnt so much. I\u2019ve been shown how to handle a variety of IT problems, provide great customer service and how to use new and different software. I feel that my confidence is growing as a result of speaking to customers, and regular discussions with my always helpful team. It\u2019s been a great experience, and still is!
